For the past six years, STAND has operated as the student-led division of a parent organization, first the Genocide Intervention Network and then United to End Genocide. Now STAND has moved forward as an independent organization.

This is an incredible time to be a STAND student, and an exciting time for STAND as a national organization. As the only student-led organization dedicated to the prevention of mass atrocities, STAND empowers students in a way that few other organizations do. STAND students have played an essential role in this movement, as advocates, as policy experts, as organizers, and as leaders. The transition to an independent, self-sustaining organization will enable students to have an even stronger voice in the future of genocide prevention.
